In time for Halloween 2011 (and beyond): Yvonne De Carlo as Lily Munster
The Munsters was yet another one of my favorite shows as a kid.
I liked all the characters, but I think my favorite was Spot (the dragon thing that lived under the stairs). I always thought Lily was cool, too.
I always got a kick out of the niece, Marilyn (who was a very pretty lady), who could never get any dates because all her suitors were scared to death of her creepy family, but her creepy family always thought she couldn't get dates because she was too homely-looking.
Tools/ Features used in Illustrator: Sprayer symbol tool (for stars in background); art brush (for texture in bat wings); blur (for moon and star glow); clipping masks; transparency panel; pathfinder (divide)
I did not use gradient mesh for this, because I wanted to go old school with it (aside from the use of gaussian blur for the moon glow etc).
Live Trace was not used on any portion of this image.

What a pleasant surprise to see this floating randomly in your gallery! I always loved The Munsters, and Lily was my favorite by far. But I have to agree, Spot was really cool, in a creepy living-under-the-stairs kind of way. In the spirit of Halloween, I merged two of my favorite raven haired beauties together, dressing Priscilla Presley as Lily Munster in a manip. It didn't come out as clean as I would have liked, but it satisfied me.
Anyway, this is gorgeous. I love the color mixture. You did a wonderful job and have sparked inspiration in me.
Not sure if you've seen this before, but it might interest you: [link]
That Munster Mansion site is a lot of fun, thank you for sharing that!
I guess my tastes are a little eclectic.
I've always liked drawing animals, I was a huge Star Wars fan as a kid, I've been a Marilyn Monroe fan since my teen years, and I just like drawing other famous people (especially the film stars from the 1930s - 1950s).
Thank you for the kind words about the drawing.
I only remember the black and white episodes of the Munster TV show, and I always visualized her dress as being shades or lavender or purple, but I found out from a site that had screen caps of a color Munster movie that her outfit was actually pink! Oh well.

My tastes are just as eclectic, too. Which is why I can appreciate the diversity of your gallery.
The more we speak, the more in common I feel that we have. It's especially nice to meet others who love old Hollywood.
Well, it was kind of a mixture I always thought, between dusty rose and lavender.
I'm glad you like the drawing.
I think the color of her costume was actually pink, but I visualized it in purples and lavendars.
